Ergospirography (PET) for athletes (VO2 Max)

Accurate analysis of endurance, heart rate zones and training effectiveness

Ergospirography is a comprehensive test of endurance and respiratory system function under physical exertion.

The study helps to understand how effective your training is, whether you are distributing your forces correctly and whether there are hidden problems that may interfere with results.
Ideal for athletes, runners and anyone who wants to improve their fitness in a safe and scientifically sound way.

We care about your health! Admission to the “Еrgospirometry for athletes” test requires results of a resting ECG and cardiac echocardiography (ECHO). The examination can be performed at the clinic or you may provide previous test results before the procedure. In case of refusal to undergo preliminary examination, the clinic reserves the right to decline the procedure.

Who is CPET recommended for?

Runners (from beginners to marathoners)

Cyclists and triathletes

Swimmers

Crossfit athletes

Players (football, basketball, volleyball)

Those coming back from injuries or breaks

Those who want to progress faster without the risk of overtraining

Ergospirography (PET) for athletes.

🔥 What do you get after the test?:

1. VO₂max is an objective indicator of endurance

2. Accurate heart rate zones Z1 - recovery Z2 - fat burning Z3 - tempo training Z4 - threshold Z5 - maximum loads These zones are calculated not by a formula, but by the physiological response of your body.

3. Aerobic and anaerobic thresholds (VT1 / VT2) These are the keys to effective endurance training.

4. Assessment of the efficiency of movement and ventilation How efficiently your body uses oxygen.

5. Personalized training plan With recommendations for intensity and volume of exercise.

6. Overtraining Control CPET shows whether the body is coping with the load and whether there is an “adaptation failure”.

🔬 What ergospirometry shows an athlete:

Cardiac response: heart rate, rhythm, thresholds

Pulmonary function: ventilation, volumes, anaerobic threshold

Gas exchange: oxygen utilization efficiency

Fitness level and possible hidden problems

Optimal pace, speed or power for training

These are exact numbers, not subjective feelings.

Why is ergospirometry (CPET) important for athletes?

🥇 In short: Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) provides answers that cannot be obtained from a fitness watch, heart rate trackers, or a standard medical check-up:

What is your real endurance (VO₂max)

How efficiently do you "burn" oxygen

Where is the anaerobic threshold

When training is beneficial and when it is harmful

What are your body's heart rate zones

Are there hidden limitations (exertion asthma, ventilation disorders, inadequate heart response)

🧩 Test preparation

🧩 Test preparation

24 hours in advance:

do not do heavy training

avoid alcohol and stimulants

get enough sleep

On the day of the test:

come 2 hours after a light meal

take water, sneakers, shorts

for cyclists – their own bike (optional)

Medications:

beta-blockers, verapamil and diltiazem can only be canceled by your doctor

(you can’t do it yourself)

📅 When and how do you get the results

Immediately after the test: preliminary report + short analysis

After 3 working days:

— VO₂max

— thresholds

— heart rate zones

— text report

— recommendations for the trainer

🚴‍♂️ How the test is performed

  1. Warm-up, body composition analysis (bioelectrical impedance analysis), and spirometry.
  2. Exercise testing on a cycle ergometer, treadmill, or Concept2 rowing machine — by prior arrangement.
  3. A cyclist may come with their own bicycle: we have a professional indoor bike trainer.
  4. Gradual increase in intensity.
  5. Analysis of every inhalation/exhalation, blood pressure, heart rate, and ECG.
  6. Cool-down + preliminary conclusion.

Duration: 30–40 minutes.

🛡️ Safety

  • We perform an ECG and echocardiography before the test — or you can provide the results of these examinations.
  • The room is equipped with a defibrillator and a full set of emergency medical equipment.
  • Over the entire period of testing, there has not been a single critical situation.

📅 When and how you receive the results

  • Immediately after the test: a preliminary report + brief analysis.
  • Within 3 business days:

— VO₂max
— thresholds
— heart rate zones
— written report
— recommendations for the coach
